These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Corkbord mobile application and website at corkbord.co (together, the "Service"), operated by Corkbord ("we," "us," or "Corkbord"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What Corkbord Is
Corkbord is a platform for discovering and sharing local events. Users can browse a public feed of events, view event details and locations on a map, and share events via links. Depending on your level of participation, you can also create events, manage event listings, and claim events on behalf of a business.
2. Accounts and Access Levels
Browsing Without an Account
You can browse events, view event details, and share event links without creating an account. No personal information is required for browsing.
Creating an Account
An account is required to create events, save events, manage your listings, or adopt events on behalf of a business. Accounts are created using an email address and password. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at support@corkbord.co if you believe your account has been compromised.
Account Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and consents to these Terms on your behalf.
3. Event Creation and Content
What You Can Post
Events posted on Corkbord must describe real, upcoming gatherings, activities, or happenings that occur at a specific time and place. All event information you submit must be accurate to the best of your knowledge.
What You Cannot Post
Events and content that violate these Terms include, but are not limited to:
- Fabricated events that do not correspond to a real occurrence
- Spam, duplicate listings, or events created primarily for advertising unrelated products or services
- Content that promotes illegal activity or violates applicable law
- Harassment, threats, hate speech, or content targeting individuals or groups
- Sexually explicit material
- Content that infringes the intellectual property rights of others (including uploading flyer images or artwork you do not have the right to distribute)
- Misleading information about the event's organizer, location, time, or nature
Anonymous Event Creation
Corkbord allows event creation without an account. Anonymous submissions are subject to rate limiting and moderation. Events created anonymously may be published, edited, or removed at our discretion. If you create an event without an account, you will not be able to edit or manage that event afterward unless you later create an account and contact us to associate the event with it.
AI-Assisted Event Creation
Corkbord offers tools that use artificial intelligence to extract event details from URLs, images of flyers, or pasted text. When you use these tools, AI generates a draft of the event details for your review. You are responsible for reviewing, editing, and confirming the accuracy of AI-generated content before submission. Submitting an event — whether drafted by AI or written manually — constitutes your representation that the event information is accurate. We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-extracted information.
4. Business Adoption of Events
Any event on Corkbord can be "adopted" (claimed) by a verified business account. Adoption transfers management rights over the event listing to the business. This means the adopting business can edit event details, manage the listing, and represent themselves as the event's host or organizer.
Business adoption requires verification, which may include confirming ownership through a domain-linked email, a website link, or staff verification. We review adoption requests and may deny them if we cannot confirm a legitimate connection between the business and the event.
Adoption does not erase the original creator's history. The original submission record is retained internally. Falsely claiming an event you have no legitimate connection to is a violation of these Terms. If you believe a business has incorrectly adopted an event you created, contact us at support@corkbord.co and we will review the claim.
5. Your Content and Our License to It
You Own What You Post
You retain ownership of the content you submit to Corkbord, including event descriptions, images, and other materials ("User Content").
License You Grant Us
By submitting User Content, you grant Corkbord a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to use, display, reproduce, distribute, modify, and create derivative works of your User Content in connection with operating, promoting, and improving the Service. This includes:
- Displaying your event on the Corkbord feed, map, and event detail pages
- Generating shareable links, social media preview cards (Open Graph images), and embeds
- Processing your content through automated systems (including AI) for formatting, categorization, moderation, and quality improvement
- Displaying your event in search results, notifications, or marketing materials for the Service
This license continues for as long as your content remains on the Service. If you delete your content or your account is terminated, we will make reasonable efforts to remove it from the Service, though cached or archived copies may persist for a limited period. Content that has been shared externally via public links or social cards may continue to exist outside our control.
Your Representations
By submitting User Content, you represent that you have the right to grant this license — meaning you either created the content, have permission from the creator, or the content is otherwise available for you to share (for example, a publicly distributed event flyer).
6. Moderation and Content Removal
We reserve the right to review, edit, or remove any content on the Service at our discretion, including content that we believe violates these Terms, is inaccurate, or is otherwise harmful. We are not obligated to monitor all content, but we may do so.
If you believe content on Corkbord infringes your copyright, please send a notice to support@corkbord.co that includes: (1) identification of the copyrighted work, (2) identification of the infringing content on our Service, (3) your contact information, (4) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized, and (5) a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner. We will respond to valid takedown requests in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
7. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any purpose that violates applicable law
- Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to extract data from the Service without our written permission
- Attempt to interfere with, compromise, or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
- Impersonate another person, business, or entity
- Create accounts or submit events using automated tools (bots) without authorization
- Circumvent rate limits, moderation controls, or other technical restrictions
- Use the Service to collect personal information about other users
- Use the Service to distribute malware, phishing links, or other harmful content
8. Intellectual Property
The Corkbord name, logo, visual design, and original software are owned by Corkbord and are protected by intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our branding, trade names, or trademarks without our written consent.
The event content on the Service is owned by its respective creators (subject to the license granted above). We do not claim ownership of User Content.
9. Third-Party Services and Links
The Service may contain links to third-party websites, services, or content. We do not control and are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of third-party resources. Your interactions with third-party services are governed by their own terms and policies.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
- Event information posted by users or generated by AI tools is accurate, complete, or current
- Events listed on the Service will actually take place as described

Corkbord is a platform for discovering events, not an event organizer. We do not host, organize, or endorse the events listed on the Service. Attendance at any event is at your own risk.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Corkbord and its officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service, including but not limited to:
- Reliance on event information that turns out to be inaccurate or outdated
- Experiences at events discovered through the Service
- Loss of data, including event content or account information
- Unauthorized access to your account
- Errors in AI-generated content, including event details extracted from URLs, images, or text
Our total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed fifty dollars (USD $50).
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Corkbord and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Service, (b) User Content you submit, (c) your violation of these Terms, or (d) your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights.
13. Account Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account and remove your content if you violate these Terms. For serious violations — including posting illegal content, engaging in harassment, repeatedly submitting fraudulent events, or attempting to compromise the Service — we may act immediately and without prior notice.
For less severe or first-time violations, we will generally attempt to notify you and give you an opportunity to correct the issue before taking action, but we are not obligated to do so.
You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at support@corkbord.co. Upon account deletion, we will remove your profile information. Events you created may be retained in anonymized form if they serve the public interest of the event community.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, if you have an account, notify you by email or through the app. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to updated Terms, you should stop using the Service and delete your account.
15. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Tennessee, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
16. General Provisions
- Entire Agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Corkbord regarding the Service.
- Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
- No Waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not waive our right to enforce it later.
- Assignment. We may assign our rights and obligations under these Terms. You may not assign yours without our written consent.
